The last two games for the girls basketball team have both come down to the very last seconds.

After coming off a heartbreaking one-point loss at home to South Park, the girls traveled to Mckeesport on Tuesday and squeezed out a one-point victory, 50-49.

Senior Abbey Larkin and Freshman Anna Lucarelli both drained key buckets in the last minute to secure the victory.

“After coming off such a close loss, it felt amazing to get our first win of the season,” Lucarelli said.

Freshman Lexi Bernotas also added key minutes in her first game back since a head injury.

“It felt amazing to be back on the court with my teammates and help get key defensive stops down the stretch,” Bernotas said.

The girls take their 1-2 record into a key section matchup against Mt. Lebanon on Thursday at home.

“Hopefully now that we’ve got our first, the wins will keep coming,” Lucarelli  said.
