1D singer gets folky on Flicker
November 2, 2017
Niall Horan is now the third member of One Direction with a fully released album. His is called Flicker.
Without being accompanied by the other members of One Direction, listeners can finally see the real Horan.
Solo Horan has a less One Direction-like sound and channels a more folk-pop sound, like with “Fire Away.” With one feature on his album — “Seeing Blind” with country singer Maren Morris — the country folk side is fairly emphasized, which may deter past One Direction fans from the record due to the vast difference in sound.
The album features hit singles “Slow Hands” and “This Town,” which had already previewed what most of the album was going to be: soft acoustic folk.
Ultimately, the folky-country sound may be a refreshing new feel for some fans who like the sound, but for the traditional One Direction fans, expectations may not be met.
