Junior Macy Hale finished 23rd out of 250 girls at the 15th annual Red White and Blue invitational on Saturday.
Hale finished with a personal record time of 19:39, which is a minute faster than her previous best.
“The race started out fast, so I went out about 30 seconds faster than I usually do for the first mile,” Hale said.
Hale also credits a course alteration to her great finish.
“Flagstaff Hill was eliminated from the beginning of the race, so I had a lot more energy during the last mile,” Hale said.
Hale and her teammates will participate in their first section meet Tuesday against Canon- McMillan and Mt. Lebanon.
“Both schools have been tough competition throughout my three years here, and I’m looking forward to competing,” Hale said.
