Solange Knowles releases new album

Mackenzie Sendro, Staff Writer

Four years after the release of her EP True, Solange Knowles has released her second album, A Seat at the Table. The album shows parallels to her well-renowned sister Beyoncé, with a touch of R&B and funk. However, Solange brings her own style with hits such as “A Crane in the Sky” and “Mad” featuring Lil Wayne, which both capture her soulful touch. Listeners will feel as if the spirit of Prince is channeled within the sounds, especially in the song “Junie”. Fans of Frank Ocean will appreciate the intensity yet vulnerability of the powerful album. Solange confesses her autobiography on the struggle of race in America, as she searches for answers in these tunes. The album features multiple underrated artists such as Sampha and Q-Tip. Listeners will not be disappointed regardless their preferred genre.
