CD review: Alessia Cara

BY  BRI STALEY
4 and 1/2 stars

Anyone searching for a new artist to listen to should look no further than Alessia Cara, a 19-year-old singer from Canada. Unlike many teenage singers today, she is not the stereotypical pop star. She is a talented R&B artist with a unique voice. Cara began her career by singing acoustic songs on YouTube. Within a year of being discovered by the music industry, she released her first single, “Here.” It was an instant success. Now, her recently released EP, Four Pink Walls, is gaining the same attention. This EP has five songs, including “Seventeen” and “I’m Yours.” Just from listening to one song, listeners can tell that Cara is very passionate about her music. She writes most of her songs herself, and uses her lyrics to empower listeners. With her dedication to her music career and amazing voice, Cara definitely has a great future ahead of her.
