The Wu-Tang Clan has released many hit albums and songs. Shortly after they released Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), one of the members, GZA, released the solo album Liquid Swords, which might go down as one of the greatest rap albums of all time.
GZA was not known at the time for his solo career, and most rap fans today do not know the name. This was his second album, following Words from the Genius, which was a great debut album but not as good as Liquid Swords.
With a 13-song tracklist, the album starts off strong with the title track and “Duel of the Iron Mic.”
GZA maintains a flow throughout the album, which makes it an easy and enjoyable listen. The eighth track, “Shadowboxin,’” stands out because of its amazing beat and a great feature by Method Man.
There are many songs with features and the majority are from Wu-Tang members. With the Wu-Tang type beat present as well as features by members like Raekwon and RZA, it often seems like listeners are hearing Wu-Tang Clan tracks, which makes the songs outstanding.
The album ends with “B.I.B.L.E.,” which is one of the best songs on the album and is a great final track.
Overall, the album is amazing for fans of the Wu-Tang Clan and it should be at the top of the list for fans of rap and hip hop.
