Running out of TV shows and movies to stream? The Purbalite is here to help, with another installment of our What to Binge Watch feature.

Viewers who want to either watch another popular anime or switch things up and watch a long series should binge watch One Piece

One Piece follows the pirate Monkey D. Luffy, played by Mayumi Tanaka, along with the Straw Hat pirate crew. The series started in October 1999 and is still releasing weekly episodes.

Eleven seasons can be found on Hulu, and all of the episodes can be found on Funimation.

The animation of One Piece always has been exceptional, but in recent years the animation has exceeded all expectations.

The show follows Luffy growing as a pirate with his crew: Zoro, a swordsman; Nami, a navigator; Usopp, a sniper; Sanji, a cook; Chopper, a doctor; Robin, an archaeologist; Franky, a shipwright, and Jinbe, a fish-man hybrid.

The show begins with Luffy comically jumping out of a barrel and declaring that, with a good night’s sleep, he will be able to make it off of the pirate Alvida’s ship. Viewers learn Luffy’s goal is to become the king of the pirates.

The former king of the pirates was Gol D. Roger, who surrendered and was executed. Luffy is determined to find the One Piece, an unknown award for the king of the pirates. To do this Luffy must gather a crew of 10 members, and on their journey they create new friendships, learn important lessons, defeat enemies, and have many laughs.

The pirates conquer, loot, and party. Their enemy is the Navy, specifically the admirals and vice admirals. But the journey from island to island covers important real-life topics such as discrimination, racism, overcoming fear, and that enemies can turn into allies.

Overall, One Piece is a great anime that has plenty of character and plot development.
