Call of Duty comes back strong, but with some issues

While it has some very strong points, the game feels rushed, as if the company was trying to push out the game too soon to make money around the release of the new consoles.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War sold the most digital copies on launch day for any release in the franchise’s history. Yet while it has some very strong points, the game feels rushed, as if the company was trying to push out the game too soon to make money around the release of the new consoles.

Many people in the fan base have been complaining about skilled-based matchmaking, in which players of a certain caliber are placed with others based on their in-game performance. This has been a struggle for players who have a high in-game record and are playing on consoles, since they can be put into lobbies with PC players who are at an advantage because they have higher FPS and have a higher reaction time with their mouse rather than using a controller.

Another big issue is the weapon balance. Certain weapons, like the MP5, have been overused since the launch of the game because they are very powerful. Other weapons, like the snipers, are weak, and they pose a challenge for some players and a struggle for others. However, Activision has been rolling out updates and balancing such weapons to make the game more enjoyable for all people.

With multiplayer, there are only a few maps to play and some of those maps are poorly put together and just have an overall bad scheme. However, Call of Duty has announced that they are in the process of releasing new maps.

The zombie’s experience in Cold War so far has been tremendous, with much more being added with each update to come. Treyarch has decided to bring back zombies after their absence from the previous Call of Duty and this was the correct decision to make.

With all the additions and the return of some fan favorites, it is looking like this will be one of the better editions of the franchise for zombies. While at the beginning there were many glitches and ways to cheat the game, many of those have been patched or are in the process of being patched.

The campaign in Cold War has also been amazing, with a great storyline and an intense and breathtaking finish. The presentation of the campaign and the nostalgia created by characters from past Call of Duty editions have been impressive.

With bug improvements and updates to come, this Call of Duty can put itself among the greats, but the multiplayer remains an issue.
