CD Review: Bastille- Bad Blood

Bastille-Bad-Blood-LP

BY CASEY MONTANA

5 Stars

This new alternative band, from the U.K., offers a fresh twist on typical pop. They add unconventional instruments, synths, and cappella vocals to complement their unique alternative style. Their new album, Bad Blood, features hits such as “Pompeii,” “Laura Palmer,” and “Things We Lost in the Fire.” “Pompeii” is filled with drum beats, clapping, and harmonies that produce chills while listening to the song. “Things We Lost in the Fire” has the catchiness of an everyday pop song, but does not have the explicit lyrics found in most. “Laura Palmer” is the best mix between rock and pop, with hypnotizing bass and spellbinding vocals. These hits are tunes that can satisfy the pickiest music taste. Bastille has been praised by fans and organizations everywhere for offering an intricate take on pop music. Instead of Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, everyday pop listeners should listen to this album to hear what good music sounds like.
