The notorious Scottish rock group Franz Ferdinand is back with a fourth studio album, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Actions, after a four-year hiatus.
Spooky electronics and echoing voices remain identify trademarks of the group, but much of the edge that commonly accompanies their albums seems absent. Instead they’ve replaced their unique dance anthems with more radio playable songs. In this way the band may be attempting to expand to a new fan base, as their self-titled album celebrates its decade anniversary year. Standout single ‘Love Illuminations’ sounds like it belongs on 2009’s Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, a reminder of what made the band so lovable in the first place. Right Thoughts is still one of the overall most consistent albums of the year, with no real drop-off.
