Purbalite earns first-place award

The Purbalite has earned a first-place award in the annual judging of student newspapers from the American Scholastic Press Association.

The award is based on issues published during the last school year. High school papers are judged in 40 categories, and then each paper is ranked in one of three categories: third place, second place, or first place. The Purbalite published six issues last year, including a center-spread, all-color feature in each issue.

Editors for the 2012-13 school year were Luke Dowker, Lexy Steppling, Maura Kay, and Shane Becker.
