A new era in Baldwin football opens on Friday when the Fighting Highlanders take on Peters Township at 7:30 p.m. at the football stadium.
This will be the first game at the helm for Coach Pete Wagner. Starting quarterback Doug Altavilla, a junior, said the team is ready.
“Coach Wagner and the coaching staff have prepared us tremendously well and given us the right tools for the season,” Altavilla said.
Senior class officers gave out T-shirts during the lunch periods on Thursday that say “The Highlander Huddle” and “We Are One.” Students wearing the shirts to the game will get in for free.
Altavilla said the team has set high goals for the year.
“Ultimately we want to be conference champions, but right now we are just trying to get better day in and day out.”
