The girls volleyball team won in straight sets Thursday night against Moon despite injuries that kept their two veteran setters out of the game.

Junior Alana Price was out due to a lingering back injury, and senior Erin Ferrari was sidelined by a concussion. As a result, freshman Mia Hampsay had to be called up from the JV team into the role of starting setter.

“It was a really anxious moment for me, and I’m glad we were able to get the win even with my lack of varsity experience,” Hampsay said.

The girls’ next section game is against Bethel Park on Tuesday, and Hampsay is expected to see some action once again.

“Tuesday will be a very big test for us, but we will be prepared,” Hampsay said.
