With the end of the school year coming, the final art installation of the year is up and ready to be viewed.

The installation is focused on Malala Yousafzai, and is being presented in the library. The artist is senior Maddie Crawford.

“I wanted to thank Malala,” Crawford said.

The installation is a painting of Malala, and 30 butterflies. The butterflies, hanging from the ceiling, say “thank you” in 30 different languages.

“All 30 languages are spoken at Baldwin, and I wanted to support diversity,” Crawford said.

This installation is very different from the last one, the new location reinforces the difference.

“All the artists that are well known are not known for repeating someone else’s art,” art and design teacher James Wodarek said.

Wodarek assigned the installation at the beginning of senior year.

“I started it at the beginning of the year, but things came up and I only was recently able to finish it,” Crawford said.

Crawford will be continuing her art career at Chatham University, while leaving the installation behind. The installation is also going to be shared with the other schools within the district.
